Richland County’s State Hospital Jane Doe was a patient at the South Carolina State Hospital. Unable to provide her real name due to schizophrenia, she provided a birth date of January 31, 1944.

Not long after being hospitalized, the patient had an accidental and fatal fall. She was buried in the Richland County Cemetery as “Jane Doe” by the Richland County Coroner’s Office.

Prior to her hospitalization, this Jane Doe had been seen wandering the streets preaching. She was overheard claiming to be the daughter of televangelist Oral Roberts. Although the local media covered her case extensively at the time of her death, she has remained unidentified for 40 years.

The Dean and Tina Linn Clouse Memorial Fund and FHD Forensics are collaborating with the Richland County Coroner’s Office to identify Richland County State Hospital Jane Doe . Although highly degraded, selected remains have been sent for DNA extraction in hopes of being able to generate an autosomal profile for matching.
